Art Nouveau

SOLD

Rozenburg, Den Haag, 1900
Artist: Sam Schellink
Height: 18 cm (7.1 inches)

This vase is an exceptionally early example of Rozenburg eggshell porcelain, crafted in 1900 by Sam Schellink. The vase features intricately detailed flowers that elegantly wrap around its form, with the design and shape enhancing each other beautifully. Although restored, the vase retains its delicate charm and historical significance. Rozenburg’s eggshell porcelain, produced after years of meticulous experimentation, debuted in 1899 and quickly gained international renown, especially after the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris. Acclaimed by institutions such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Rozenburg’s creations won numerous awards and became symbols of Dutch Art Nouveau. The designs often feature Asian-inspired motifs, including flowers, birds, fish, and insects, making them enduring highlights of this artistic period.

This vase is not only a decorative piece but also a valuable artifact, representing the innovation and artistic excellence of the Rozenburg factory.
